Well, that could have gone better.
We started the weekend with two losses and finished it off with a miss on the Bills.
A wide right miss to be exact.
Needless to say, I gave away a lot of wings this weekend.
But let's focus on the good things to come.
It's Conference Championship Week and we have two nice matchups.
Let's dig in.
The Matchups:
Chiefs +3.5 @ Baltimore
What a show in Buffalo this past weekend huh?
Apparently, there was a football game, but who cares?
Jason Kelce repped fat dudes everywhere and stole the show by carrying toddlers up to wave to Taylor Swift and did it shirtless in sub-freezing temperatures.
Can we be done with them now?
No.
I said last week that the matchup in Buffalo would very likely decide the team that will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. I'm sticking with that. The Chiefs just figure out ways to make life difficult for whoever they play.
Lamar Jackson is easily the best player in the game right now. He's electric. The whole Ravens team runs through him and I expect him to put on a show this Sunday. The Ravens could very well win this game. The hook on this spread is enough for me to lay my money down on KC. I don't see this being more than a Field Goal game and I expect the line to tighten to 3 or 2.5 by kickoff, so get your bets in early.
Final Score:
Ravens 30 - Chiefs 28
Detroit @ San Fransisco -7
Last week I predicted that the 49ers' game and the Ravens' game could follow very similar scripts. I predicted that both teams would come out a little rusty and that one of them might even sweat out a very close game. I also said that the other team would show the difference in class and pull away winning easily. You may have noticed that I was 0-2 in picking those games, so I'll let you guess which game I expected to be close.
I think this was the 49ers' wake up call. Deebo Samuel getting banged up does matter, but it shouldn't keep them from picking apart the Lions. The Lions' defense isn't as good as the Packers. Aidan Hutchinson is great, but that's all they have. That secondary was getting burned all day by Mike Evans and they have been torched several times all season.
I think this actually ends up being a dumpster fire and "Outside Goff" will try his best, but won't be able to keep pace with the San Fransisco attack. As the game wears on it's just going to get away from Detroit and Dan Campbell won't be able to do anything about it but scream and yell. He'll get them ready to play, but once things go sideways, he generally doesn't have an answer other than "let's go for it". They'll probably turn the ball over on downs a couple of times late and the score will get ugly.
Final Score:
49ers 38 - Lions 17
Good luck everybody.
Enjoy the games and
DON'T BE DUMB!
